Admission

Welcome to Catlin Gabel School’s admission office. We are pleased that you are interested in learning more about us. At this site you will find out about Catlin Gabel’s program, admission process, financial aid, and opportunities to become further acquainted with the school.

Catlin Gabel immerses students from preschool through 12th grade in a powerful sequence of humanities, global cultures, interwoven mathematics and sciences, liberating creative expression, well-balanced physical education, and ecological awareness. By carefully integrating progressive values with contemporary educational theory and practice, our students learn through meaningful experience and become insightful questioners, responsible thinkers, and inspired action-takers. We are an educational catalyst that recognizes all members of our deeply relational and academically rigorous community as co-learners, storytellers, and scholars.

Our curriculum and approach is based on the philosophy that every person has unique talents, and that students thrive in a safe, social, and supportive environment with strong student and teacher partnerships. We seek to bring together students of diverse backgrounds who are excited about learning, hold promise for future accomplishment, and participate cooperatively. When considering an applicant we consider factors such as teacher recommendations, individual assessment, previous school experiences, standardized testing, and qualities of character. Visit our application page for details about the admission process.

Catlin Gabel School is just 5 miles west of downtown Portland, on a beautiful 54-acre tree-lined campus, next door to St. Vincent Hospital and within walking distance of the Sunset Transit Center.
